Norman J. Nolan, age 67, of 202 North Eau Claire St., Madison, died on Monday Sep 25, 1989 in a Madison nursing home following a short illness. He was born on Dec 1, 1921 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Charles and Norma Nolan. He spent his youth in Drayton Plains, Michigan. Lt. Nolan married the former Ariel Klingelhofer of Waunakee on Dec 4, 1943, while stationed at Truax Field. Norman took disability retirement after 29 years at webcrafters. He was an elder in the Waunakee Presbyterian church, past commander of American Legion Post No. 360, past president of the Madison Elks Lodge No. 410, a a former member of the Madison Purchasing Club. survivors in addition to his wife, include a daughter Barbara (Howard) Cobb of Cary, Illinois; a son, John (Patricia) Nolan of rural DeForest; little granddaughter, Rachel Nolan of DeForest' a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rebecca Nolan of Drayton Plains, Michigan; and a nephew and two nieces in Michighan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles T. Nolan. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Waunakee. Rev. John Thomas officiated and burial took place in the Vienna Cemetery. The family suggest memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Chirch, Waunakee, or to the Elks Charities.
